Recent Honors
- Our chapter been selected to host the 2012 Tau Beta Pi National Convention here in Lexington on September 27-29!
- Dr. Merl Baker, Kentucky Alpha ’45, has been named the 2010 Tau Beta Pi Distinguished Alumnus. Dr. Baker holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Kentucky (UK). After a year in the U.S. Navy, during WWII, he received a master’s and Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from Purdue University. Dr. Baker’s career includes serving as dean of the University of Missouri’s School of Mines and Metallurgy at Rolla, now Missouri University of Science and Technology and provost at the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga. A $2,000 scholarship will be given in Dr. Baker’s name to a deserving student member of Tau Beta Pi. - We have been awarded the 2010 Project Chapter Award. Close to 50 projects were reported to Tau Beta Pi National Convention for last year. Each project had to fit into one or more of the following five categories:Community/Liberal Culture

Educational/Professional Development
