The Engineering Honor Society

District 6

Tau Beta Pi is comprised of several districts which contain certain states. Every year, these Districts not only meet at the National Convention, but also at a District Conference, hosted by a collegiate chapter within its district. Kentucky-Alpha is part of District 6. Here are some cool facts about our district:

Things that make us extraordinary!

T - Time Capsule – buried in Louisville

A - Athletes – including all-American basketball (1) football(2), and track (1), a world record holder in 70 yard, 110m, 120 yard hurdles, and a silver medalist at the 1932 Summer Olympic Games

U - Unique – Only District in TBP with all women District Directors!

B - Biggest TBP Family – Woodburn-Wall-Rich family – initiates span 3 generations – grandfather, father, sisters, and spouses! One of the largest TBP 3-generation families

E - Established – 107 Years 10 months and 23 days from oldest to youngest chapter in our district – both from KY!

T – TN (Memphis) was the location of the final debate and decision to merge both Tau Beta Pi and Sigma Tau Engineering Honor Society

A - Armed Forces – Including 1 General, 1 Lieutenant General, 5 Major Generals, 2 Brigadier Generals

P - Politics – Including 2 Governors, Senator, 2 Representatives, and principal deputy assistants to the Secretary of Defense and Secretary of the Army for Civil Works

I - Inducted the first woman into full membership in 1969–KY Alpha
